Job Market Analysis through Indeed.com
Introduction
We scraped all the data analyst and data scientist job from indeed.com.hk and indeed.com.sg. A total of 978 jobs and 1152 jobs are found on indeed.hk and indeed.sg respectively.
Our Findings
Here are some of our findings:
- Singapore provides more data job offers than Hong Kong.
- Huge variations in job requirements across companies.
- Indeed.com.sg has better structured data.
- Python and Excel are essential programming tools. Although the Excel skills is believed to be replaced by Python in the coming future, they are yet important for you to find an analytics job. Besides, we can see that more statistical models need to be run by data scientist in HK as R is not that common in Singapore.
- Essential visualisation tool are Power BI and Tableau.
- Better to have a Bachelor Degree
- Average Monthly Salary is around $ 20,000 - 40, 000.
Challenges Faced
- Imbalanced data size may lead to inaccurate conclusion
- Not much Data Scientist jobs on the market when comparing to data analyst jobs
- Employers in Hong Kong seldom disclose salary in their job postings
